World Summit 2024
We’re thrilled to share that Child Well Being Ethiopia attended the 2024 World Summit on Humanitarian Negotiation! Co-organised by the Government of Germany and supported by the State of Geneva, this summit brought together thought leaders, policymakers, and humanitarian actors from around the globe to address today’s most complex humanitarian crises.
In a world facing instability, conflict, socio-economic divides, and more, the role of humanitarian workers in building trust and delivering essential services has never been more critical. We had the privilege to discuss current and emerging negotiation challenges with over 750 professionals from 100 countries and 300+ organizations, including top leaders in the humanitarian field.
A heartfelt thank you to the Centre of Competence on Humanitarian Negotiation – CCHN and International Committee of the Red Cross for their incredible support and organization.
Let’s continue to champion the principles of collaboration, cooperation, and respect as we navigate these challenges and strive to make a difference. Together, we can shape a better response for those in need. 💪🤝

Humanitarian Negotiation Community Meeting with CCHN and ICRC @Geneva, Switzerland

🌍 Our team just wrapped up an inspiring two-day Community Days event in Geneva, Switzerland! 🇨🇭

Hosted by CCHN and ICRC, the focus was on humanitarian negotiation trends and improving our practices. We were thrilled to engage with fellow community members, sharing current challenges, future hopes, and collaborative strategies for a better humanitarian negotiation world.

MOU with cooperative bank of oromia to impower women economically
 

Child Well-being Ethiopia is a non-profit organization dedicated to child protection and combating gender-based violence (GBV) against women and children. Since its inception, the organization has passionately promoted child safety and women’s empowerment through advocacy, media engagement, psychosocial support, legal aid, medical assistance, and economic empowerment initiatives. Women’s economic empowerment, achieved through financial literacy training and seed money for small businesses, is key to their mental and psychological well-being. Empowered women can stand up for themselves and their children. In collaboration with the Cooperative Bank of Oromya, under a Memorandum of Understanding, Child Well-being Ethiopia is strengthening women’s economic empowerment in Michu by providing digital banking and other financial services.

Humanitarian negotiation training in Nairobi

We are thrilled to share that CWE recently participated in a crucial Humanitarian Negotiation Training held at the Center of Competence in Nairobi, Kenya.  This training was a collaborative effort with esteemed local and international NGOs, focusing on enhancing our skills in negotiating for child protection and advancing humanitarian efforts.

Here are some key highlights from our participation:

🤝 Collaborative Learning: We engaged with a diverse group of NGOs to exchange invaluable insights and strategies on negotiating effectively in the field of child protection and humanitarian work.

📚 Knowledge Enrichment: The training equipped us with advanced negotiation techniques tailored to the unique challenges and sensitivities involved in safeguarding children’s wellbeing during humanitarian crises.

🌟 Empowering Our Team: Our team members gained practical experience and knowledge that will empower us to better advocate for and protect the rights of vulnerable children across Ethiopia.

At CWE, we are committed to continuous learning and improvement to better serve our communities. This training opportunity has strengthened our resolve to make a lasting impact in the lives of children in need. 💙

Together, we can build a brighter future where people can heal and rebuild their lives in safety and security. Support and empowerment are our guiding principles, and they hold the power to break the cycle of abuse, offering hope to countless survivors.
 
Our organization is dedicated to helping survivors find their strength and providing them with a secure atmosphere to recover.
But that’s not all. We also believe in the importance of education and awareness. By educating people about the signs of abuse, we can prevent it from happening in the first place. Knowledge is a powerful tool in the fight against abuse.

ChildWellbeing Ethiopia Enhances Cancer Care with Grief Counseling Training at Black Lion Hospital

ChildWellbeing Ethiopia conducted specialized grief counseling training in collaboration with the Ethiopian Hospital School for medical professionals at Black Lion Hospital in Ethiopia. This training aimed to equip healthcare providers with the necessary skills to offer emotional support to children battling cancer and their families. Topics covered included communication strategies, emotional needs, and addressing grief and loss, all tailored to the unique needs of young cancer patients. The goal is to enhance the overall quality of care by fostering a more compassionate and supportive healthcare environment.

ChildWellbeing Ethiopia’s initiative underscores their commitment to improving child well-being in Ethiopia. By empowering healthcare professionals to provide both medical treatment and emotional support, they aim to make a positive impact on the lives of young cancer patients and their families, emphasizing a holistic approach to care.

Empowering 52 Women: Enat Bank and Birara Genet Spearhead Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship Training

Enat Bank and Birara Genet have joined forces to provide a transformative opportunity for 52 women, offering them comprehensive training in financial literacy and entrepreneurship. The program’s key focus areas include goal setting and long-term planning, crucial skills for overcoming the diverse challenges these women face in their lives. By equipping them with essential knowledge, this initiative not only paves the way for a brighter future for the women themselves but also promises to positively impact the lives of their children.

Looking ahead, the initiative’s momentum is set to continue. With an eye on expanding their reach, the program aims to extend its income-generating activities (IGAs) to cater to the more than 500 women eagerly waiting for this life-changing opportunity.
