World Summit 2024
We’re thrilled to share that Child Well Being Ethiopia attended the 2024 World Summit on Humanitarian Negotiation! Co-organised by the Government of Germany and supported by the State of Geneva, this summit brought together thought leaders, policymakers, and humanitarian actors from around the globe to address today’s most complex humanitarian crises.
In a world facing instability, conflict, socio-economic divides, and more, the role of humanitarian workers in building trust and delivering essential services has never been more critical. We had the privilege to discuss current and emerging negotiation challenges with over 750 professionals from 100 countries and 300+ organizations, including top leaders in the humanitarian field.
A heartfelt thank you to the Centre of Competence on Humanitarian Negotiation – CCHN and International Committee of the Red Cross for their incredible support and organization.
Let’s continue to champion the principles of collaboration, cooperation, and respect as we navigate these challenges and strive to make a difference. Together, we can shape a better response for those in need. 💪🤝

Humanitarian Negotiation Community Meeting with CCHN and ICRC @Geneva, Switzerland

🌍 Our team just wrapped up an inspiring two-day Community Days event in Geneva, Switzerland! 🇨🇭

Hosted by CCHN and ICRC, the focus was on humanitarian negotiation trends and improving our practices. We were thrilled to engage with fellow community members, sharing current challenges, future hopes, and collaborative strategies for a better humanitarian negotiation world.

MOU with cooperative bank of oromia to impower women economically
 

Child Well-being Ethiopia is a non-profit organization dedicated to child protection and combating gender-based violence (GBV) against women and children. Since its inception, the organization has passionately promoted child safety and women’s empowerment through advocacy, media engagement, psychosocial support, legal aid, medical assistance, and economic empowerment initiatives. Women’s economic empowerment, achieved through financial literacy training and seed money for small businesses, is key to their mental and psychological well-being. Empowered women can stand up for themselves and their children. In collaboration with the Cooperative Bank of Oromya, under a Memorandum of Understanding, Child Well-being Ethiopia is strengthening women’s economic empowerment in Michu by providing digital banking and other financial services.

Humanitarian negotiation training in Nairobi

We are thrilled to share that CWE recently participated in a crucial Humanitarian Negotiation Training held at the Center of Competence in Nairobi, Kenya.  This training was a collaborative effort with esteemed local and international NGOs, focusing on enhancing our skills in negotiating for child protection and advancing humanitarian efforts.

Here are some key highlights from our participation:

🤝 Collaborative Learning: We engaged with a diverse group of NGOs to exchange invaluable insights and strategies on negotiating effectively in the field of child protection and humanitarian work.

📚 Knowledge Enrichment: The training equipped us with advanced negotiation techniques tailored to the unique challenges and sensitivities involved in safeguarding children’s wellbeing during humanitarian crises.

🌟 Empowering Our Team: Our team members gained practical experience and knowledge that will empower us to better advocate for and protect the rights of vulnerable children across Ethiopia.
